Giorgio Coppola

Giorgio is a Post-degree research assistant at the CMCC, working on data-driven climate change policy evaluation within the Sustainable Earth Modeling Economics division. His research interests include the social and environmental impacts of climate change and climate policy, especially in urban areas and built environments, and the applications of machine learning and spatial analysis in these fields.

Giorgio Coppola

Giorgio Coppola has recently graduated with a Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School in Berlin and is currently pursuing a Master of Data Science at the same institution. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, International Studies, and Economics from Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia. Giorgio is a Post-degree researcher at the CMCC, working on data-driven climate change policy evaluation within the Sustainable Earth Modeling Economics division.

Previously, he worked as a research assistant at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), where he wrote his Master’s thesis and supported the creation of a synthetic population of Germany at the household level for impact assessments of climate policies. His research interests include methods in the social sciences and policy analysis (ML, computational methods, causal inference), public support for climate and redistributive policies, the relationship between climate change and inequality, post-growth and de-growth policies and their public and political support, political elites, voting preferences and behaviour.
