Ireri Hernandez Carballo
Ireri Hernandez Carballo is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the RFF-CMCC European Institute on Economics and the Environment (EIEE). Her research examines how energy and climate transitions affect socioeconomic outcomes and public preferences, with a focus on three interconnected areas: environmental health, the economic impacts of decarbonization, and the political economy of climate and energy policies.
At EIEE, she conducts ex-post quantitative analysis to evaluate climate and environmental policies and understand preferences towards the energy transition, using advanced quasi-experimental methods, survey experiments, and large geocoded datasets. She contributes to two major EU Horizon projects: AdJUST, which studies the distributive impacts of the transition to climate neutrality and designs inclusive policy responses; and CAPABLE, which draws on past experiences to identify effective strategies for a successful and equitable transition.
She holds a PhD in Public Policy from Bocconi University, a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stanford University, and a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Mannheim.
