EFFICIENT BUILDINGS aims at increasing the capacity of owners and managers of public buildings to design and implement better energy efficiency practices as well as promoting its results at national and EU levels to influence policies.
The EFFICIENT BUILDINGS partnership animates the Efficient Buildings Community, a Mediterranean hub to promote the energy refurbishment of public buildings.
Indeed, in the MED area, the majority of public buildings is not adequately designed to reduce their energy consumption and improve their performance. This is partly due to a lack of awareness of owners and managers and knowledge gaps regarding common answers to this transnational challenge.
Therefore, the Efficient Buildings community will:
- contribute to increase the capacity of owners and managers of public buildings to design and implement better energy efficiency practices;
- promote its results at national and EU levels to influence policies and call for new national and European regulatory framework that take into account Mediterranean specificities and the innovative solutions proposed by the community.
- Replication. The project, through its living labs (EBLL) and the twinnings activity, will ensure the replicability and replication of good practices and the use of innovative technical, management or governance tools on new territories.
- Policy Harmonization. The project will enable to achieve a greater public policy harmonization in the cooperation area regarding the energy efficiency in public buildings issues specific to the Mediterranean.
